Raku is natural, joyful, amusing, immediate, instinctive and exciting.
We model objects of refractory clay and once they get dry we cook them in electric stove. Later we decore them with special colors made out of metal oxides and special crystalline for raku.
The second cooking takes place outside in a gas stove. We let the temperature rise till around 980° (1800 F), then stove is open and objects are taken out, placed into sawdust and covered; This performance is called Reduction and serves to get unique and peculiar different effects on each object.
Raku cannot be told, one should experience it, in order to understand thoroughly the emotion, the surprise and the beauty of dealing with fire and its magic.
